| When Raywa and Anthony are beginning to make a new-styled Air Max 87 for the series of Nike Sportswear, they firstly looked back on the sneakers of the year 1990, trying to obtain some important enlightenment from the aspects of function and designing of the sneakers. The three excellent functions are: vibrating-avoid, stability and light-material creation. While these three functions are perfectly emerged into Air Max 87 made by Nike in 1990, the color-matching and designing have also reached the requirements of beautiful and creative.
"Dink Hayfield wanted to strengthen the vibration-avoiding function of Air Max 87 to the most extent, and to maintain the feature of lightness of the sneakers", Raywa said, " thus we thought, how would that be like if we could adopt the innovative technique nowadays to bring the sneakers designed by Dink and to let it be the real shoes that Dink was pursuing?"
The initial products that enlightened the designing staff is the extremely light sneaker which is the same sort as the Air Max in 1990--Air Current. The designer of AC is the top designer Bruce Kilgore of AF1 and this pair of shoes has expanded the materials taken by Air Flow sneakers in 1989. Flow has used nylon and lykar bouncy materials in the half sole part of the sneaker, thus reduced using the bigger bulk materials largely and made the sneaker a feeling of comfortable fitting. Many years later, Presto carried forward this idea and it was honored one of the most comfortable sneakers in history. Air Max 87 has got the superior bouncy layer in the half sole part which has helped reduce the weight of sneakers and also increased the air-conductivity of the surface.
In order to realize a more comfortable feeling when wearing the sneakers, Anthony Hope used some designing elements of Nike Free for reference. It was released originally in 2005, and this style of shoes has given runners a feeling of freedom as if they are running with no shoes. The thick sole of the original Air Max 87 is made of rubber and the technique developed for all styles of Free sneakers has reduced the shoes' weight largely and raised the effects of vibration-avoiding. As the "three circles" unit can control the hardness of the shoe cushions during the processing of the new-styled AM 90, the thick sole has been improved in all aspects. As it has such excellent functions, in the autumn of the year 2008, each style of Air Max 87 has adopted this kind of thick sole. |
